The book “Burqe” is a collection of short stories ( by Saadat Hasan Manto. He wrote this book Burqe in his unique style. Manto was known for his bold style of writing. He faced many difficulties for that but didn’t leave this habit.

Saadat Hasan Manto faced many cases in the courts during the British rule in India. He bravely faced the opponents in the courts and gave his arguments.
Manto didn’t believe in hypocrisy. He unveiled the hypocrites of the society including the religious and political leadership. Manto himself wrote that we are living in a society where a woman can’t run a Tonga, but she can run a brothel. Manto wanted the equality of women and men. He was a passionate activist for the women’s rights. He highlighted the social problems of the lower segments of the society.
